How to make it

  1. Open the WhatsApp template in the web editor or the Mimicly iPhone app.
  2. Replace the sample names, photos and text with your own.
  3. Adjust times, counts and appearance until the preview looks right.
  4. Export a PNG or JPG, or press Record to save the conversation as an MP4 (desktop Chrome or Edge on the web, or the iPhone app).

How do I record a chat video?

Choose a supported conversation template, edit the sample dialogue and run Preview to check it. Use Record to generate the MP4, then save or share the file. On the web, recording works in desktop Chrome or Edge; on a phone, use the Mimicly iPhone app.

Can every template be recorded?

No. Recording is available for supported chat and AI conversation templates. The eight in-game chat templates are image-only, and so are social posts, stories, most comment templates and email. The Twitch and YouTube live chat templates can be recorded.

Is this a screen recording of another app?

No. Mimicly renders the fictional conversation you authored. It does not record your screen, microphone or a real messaging account.

Can I export a screenshot instead?

Yes. Use image export when you need a single frame. Exporting needs a free account. Without Pro, WhatsApp exports, images and videos alike, carry a small watermark, and Pro removes it.
